A loaf as a measure
1 Common Hearth Loaf = 4 Copper Leaves (4c). This ordinary grain, water and salt loaf supplies a substantial adult bread portion for a day alongside the rest of an ordinary diet. It is not luxury bread or a concentrated travel ration.
Four copper is the normal-market baseline. A grain-rich settlement after a strong harvest may sell it for 3c; a remote fort or difficult supply route may charge 5–6c. A 9c loaf is noticeably abnormal. Siege, failed crops and blocked roads can make scarcity visible at the bakery.
Reading a price
“3g 40s” means 3 Gold Sovereigns and 40 Silver Fangs. Copper serves daily life; silver can represent meaningful household or skilled-service costs; gold represents serious wealth and major purchases; platinum belongs to exceptional and institutional transactions.
Stormgold may describe an established Gold Sovereign mint issue or nickname. It is not a fifth denomination.
