The old Kintala rulers were Kings of the Returning Roads. Their authority came from open wells, safe routes, trade, waystations, and people returning alive. The final king surrendered emergency power when local Three-Keeper government proved more resilient.
Mavaro inherited a name, a history, and expectations. His answer is to build land, family, water, stores, alliances, work, knowledge, and a Pride strong enough to outlive him.
